Children and young people with cancer bring many personal strengths, abilities and resources to the cancer journey, as do their families and support networks. But sometimes extra support is needed. That’s where Redkite can help.

Redkite supports children and young people (up to the age of 24) who have cancer, and their families. If you’re a young person who has been recently diagnosed or you are undergoing treatment or returning home; or if you are a family of a child or young person going through the cancer journey, Redkite’s range of specialist and unique services are available for you. Redkite also supports the special needs of bereaved families.

By delivering specialised cancer counselling and support, Redkite aims to minimise the challenges young people and their families experience throughout the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and helps prepare them for the journey ahead.

	Hospital based support Redkite provides a range of services to support children and young people with cancer, as well as their families while their child is in hospital for treatment. These services include: Social Work Music therapy Red Bag and support packs Redkite Book Club
	Community based support Many families describe the difficulties they face accessing cancer specific counselling and support services in their local community. Redkite is there to provide information, resources and professional counselling support to families where a young person is diagnosed with cancer through the following support services: Email support Telephone support Telegroups Bereavement support Family Days
	Financial assistance A diagnosis of cancer places considerable financial strain on families. Often, family income decreases whilst expenses increase. Redkite  helps families through these challenging times by providing  financial assistance through the following services: Financial grants Financial counselling
	Education assistance Long stays in hospital and prolonged treatment may cause interruptions in a child or young person’s education and study commitments. Redkite can help children and young people keep up with their peers academically and developmentally by providing education focused grants at this critical time. Redkite provides Education Assistance through the following services: Education grants Scholarships
